Ineris recently visited Egypt to consolidate the support provided in 2019 to the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) to better understand the sources of air pollution in Cairo, based on the analysis of the chemical composition of particulate matter.

Following on from the contract that the Institute signed with the World Bank in 2019 to support the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA)  in enhancing their understanding of the sources of air pollution in Cairo, Ineris is continuing this support in collaboration with the Cyprus Institute.

From 8 to 12 January 2024, Ineris visited Cairo University and the EEAA, in order to increase the capacity building previously initiated on the analysis of the chemical composition of particles.
More specifically, Ineris facilitated training sessions with a group of 10 people (students, technicians and laboratory managers) on how to operate and maintain two ion chromatography chains, dedicated to the analysis of anions, cations and carbohydrates, and how to set up quality controls to ensure the reliability of the data obtained.
