Appointment to the presidency of the IEC 120 international commission

Guy Marlair, head of the research program and technical expert at the Ineris accident risk department, was appointed in November 2018 as president of the IEC 120 international commission (Electrical Energy Storage Systems).

This nomination took effect on 01 April 2019, for a duration of 6 years. Since the plenary TC120 meeting of October 2016, he had already chaired the commission’s WG5 workgroup dealing more specifically with “safety concerns”.

Guy Marlair has been an engineer at Ineris since 1983, and graduated from Mines de Douai (1983), Cambridge University (1982) and UTC (2013, HDR). He was able to contribute to more than 180 works, including 30 scientific articles and 10 books, and has originated 3 patent filings. He has developed expertise in industrial risks (product safety processes, such as ammonium nitrate, ionic liquids, biofuels, lithium-ion batteries, biorefining...) and coordinates collaborative research at a European and international level.
