The 11 European experts will attend a presentation and shall assess the progress of research projects co-financed by Europe, and led by project teams bringing together university researchers, expert bodies, companies, and regional and national authorities.
The research projects to be discussed shall meet both Europe's objectives and priorities, including post-mining management in Europe and environmental preservation during and after mining operations.
As a longstanding RFCS stakeholder, Ineris has developed numerous methods for hazard assessment and risks associated with mining operations and closing mines. As a partner of several projects, the institute coordinates the STAMS project (2015-2018), whose objective is the development of innovative technologies for the prevention of risks associated with old flooded mine shafts.
Ineris uses its gas-water-rock interaction laboratory, its physical simulator of ground movements and its multiphysical numerical modeling tools, to develop hazard and risk assessment methodologies, and to establish reference guides used in France and in Europe.
