The public authorities called upon the Institute to provide technical support to help manage the accident that occurred on Thursday 26 September at the Lubrizol site in Rouen, classified as a Seveso high-threshold installation.

The Institute, through its Emergency Situation Response Unit (CASU), was called upon as of Thursday 26 September to support the emergency services and then the Regional Directorate for the Environment, Planning and Housing (DREAL), in particular to control the fire and understand the dispersion phenomena that ensued.

Ineris was also called upon to perform chemical analyses of air and soot samples taken by the regional Seine-Maritime fire and emergency services (SDIS), the approved body for monitoring air quality and a specialised agency certified by the Ministry for Ecological and Inclusive Transition. Ineris received the first two series of interim samples in the evening of Thursday 26 September. The first results of these analyses were available in the evening of 27 September.
The Seine Maritime Prefecture published the results of all analyses performed online: http://www.seine-maritime.gouv.fr/Actualites/Mise-a-jour-Incendie-au-sein-de-l-entreprise-Lubrizol
